FRANCES FYFIELD

I have placed "sizzler ratings" next to books read, even if the review hasn't been added at this time.

  Shadow Play
  Perfectly Pure and Good
  A Clear Conscience
  Without Consent
Blind Date

BLIND DATE (1998)

Sub-category: mystery/suspense
The plot: Everyone loved Emmy Davey. Everyone that is except the person who killed her. Now her sister is being hunted by the same person. Elisabeth is a disgraced police officer recovering from a brutal attack which has left scars on her psyche as well as her body. However, as she unwittingly stumbles across the clues, she must thread her way between the quagmire of falling in love or following in her sister footsteps
Comment: Although not a compelling page turner, one battles on through this book. For me, the worst features were too many names which were all similar, and Fyfield's style of starting a chapter in the middle and backtracking. A perfectly fine thing to do in the middle of the book but hopelessly confusing initially as you wonder who these characters are and what they are doing here - particularly when a new character is interacting with a known one leaving you backtracking to see if you missed a stray sentence somewhere that explains this connection...

An absolute sizzler of a movie - A must see!
A scorcher of a good movie; still capable of riveting you to your seat
Low flame burner; a pleasant piece of mindless brain candy
A fizzler of a movie which will have you counting zzzzzz's...
