MEMOIRS
OF A GEISHA (1997) |
Sub-category:
Japanese history
The plot:
At the end of a startling life, Japanese Geisha, Nitta Sayari
tells of trials and tribulations she had to endure to become
one of Japan's most successful geisha's. Her tale starts as
a child in an obscure Japanese fishing village and tells of
how she fell into the geisha business and life in Japan through
WWII.
Comment:
From the very first paragraph, the beautiful written words
of Golden encourage you to keep turning pages in fascination
as this tale of the hidden side of Japan is revealed. As the
narrative unfolds, you are gradually enfolded into the gentle,
yet austere world of the Japanese culture. Truly a magnificent
and delightful novel to read!
