I have placed "sizzler

The
Serpent Garden (1996) |
Sub-category: History
The plot:
Susanna Dallet is to fend for herself and her Nan in the early
16th Century after her husband is murdered. Her skills as
an excellent miniature painter soon open pathways into the
intricate worlds of the French and English Courts. Armed with
nothing but her painting skills and the book "The Good
Wyfe's Book of Manners", Susanna quickly becomes involved
in battles of the court and heart.
Comment:
An enjoyable book from start to finish - although probably
more suited to those of the feminine persuasion. Riley has
a wonderful way of writing beautiful historical stories without
bogging the reader down in historical facts - or piling to
much romantic junk into the plot. And yet, at the end of it,
you know a little more about the medieval times... An enjoyable
read.
