THE
REALITY DYSFUNCTION (1997) |
Sub-category: Hard core
SF/bio-technology
The plot: The human race
is approaching the 26th century and technology has advanced
to mankind colonising other planets and nanotechnology has
resulted in (almost) two different 'species' of man living
side by side and working together. However, on a remote
planet being colonised by misfits and criminals, something
happens that threatens the entire survival of the human
race.
Comment: The best piece
of advice I received on reading this terribly thick book
was: Persevere through the first 100 pages. Excellent advice.
A the end of 100 pages, the basis for the novel has been
set and you feel the hook sink in. By the end of 200 pages,
there is absolutely no question of stopping until the book
is finished, and then there are the sequels... If you love
Science Fiction, then do not be out off by the thick novel;
this is one of the best SF novels of the '90's.
